Putting Heart into a High-Rise
Custom furniture and finishes bring personality and charm to the originally formulaic design of a Midtown condo.

Objective & Impact:
The home’s deepest character comes from craftsmanship and personal history embedded throughout. The defining feature is a custom 6' x 8' reclaimed-wood sliding door, built in collaboration with Jodi’s father, setting the tone for a resourceful approach carried across the interior. Repurposed wood cladding wraps the bar, custom open pipe shelving replaced builder-grade cabinets, and tile was replaced with stained plywood flooring. Refinished antique doors add warmth and texture. The result is a layered urban residence where material honesty, family narrative, and daily function converge in a way that feels personal and architecturally compelling.
- Original Architecture Celebrated by polishing concrete floors and exposing structural elements.
- Openness + Daylight Improved through selective wall removal that enhances sightlines and circulation.
- Everyday Function Enhanced with expanded closet storage and a new walk-in pantry.
- Living Room Layout Expanded to improve furniture planning and overall usability.
- Custom Sliding Barn Door creates warmth, texture, and a strong focal point within the concrete shell.
- Material Resourcefulness Expressed through repurposed wood finishes and layered bar detailing.
