RAILROAD CART REIMAGINED

Objective & Impact:
Jodi's parents had an antique store in her hometown in Florida where this early 1900s railroad baggage cart - often called a "nutting truck" was sourced. Jodi, alongside her dad, restored this antique after discovering the original wood frame and deck boards were rotted through and the hardware was heavily rusted. Jodi completely disassembled the cart and after scouring her Dad's workshop for replacement material, the frame was rebuilt using walnut. A glass top replaced wood slats to reveal the restored hardware.
Fun Fact - old railroad carts, often called "Nutting trucks" or baggage carts, were primarily used in the early 1900s at train depots to transport passenger luggage, mail, and freight between trains and station buildings. These heavy-duty carts featured sturdy wooden platforms, cast-iron wheels, and were designed for manual maneuvering to handle heavy items.
