During a recent round-table discussion about high-performance homes and sustainable living, Steve Nygren, one of the chief founders of the Serenbe Community, shared a story with us about one of the residents walking up to him, giving him a bear hug and saying, "Serenbe changed my life!" Well done, Steve! The 1,000-acre sustainable community has grown in to one of the most sought after communities in the Southeast, with a very eclectic mix of people, amenities and architectural styles. Like many have done, when Jodi and I first drove through the Serenbe we drank the kool-aid®, and were ready to move! So far, we're still in our midtown condo, but there's plenty of time...
There is so much to love about Serenbe, from the fresh produce grown in the organic farm to the access to regular live performances played both inside and out. It's a very walk-able and play-able community that suits all ages and walks of life. So, naturally, there's an architectural palette that appeals to many.
The Latest Addition to Serenbe
A couple of weeks ago, the contemporary home that we designed and The Imery Group built at 10556 Serenbe Lane, also known as the "Proud Green Home", was finally completed and opened for viewing! Here are a few photos from the "ribbon cutting" events that focused on the high-performance aspects of the home, which we are very proud to say that it performs extremely well. Below is a photo tour showing the interior and exterior of the home. You'll notice that as energy efficient (net-positive - produces more energy than the homeowners will use) as the home is, it is as much a home as any other home is. It has four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, dining, kitchen, master-on-main, etc...
Anyway, here ya go. Hope you enjoy!
We sure hope you've enjoyed the photo tour of the home, and learning a bit about the great community of Serenbe
