Tiny House Design Build, Part One - Site Clearing

Preparations for building our 450 square foot Tiny House started this past week with the clearing of the site on an 8-acre property on the banks of the Withlacoochee River in central Florida. The design is being finalized this week, and we should have a permit from Hernando County sometime in the middle of December, which means foundations can start in January!

This is the first post in our #TinyHouseDesignBuild series on our blog where we will follow and share every step through completion, showcasing best practices of designing, building and living in a Tiny House. The series will include design strategies and tips, how-to installations, product and material reviews, walk through the permitting process, and more. The "WHERE" of the Tiny House

The site is surrounded by typical Florida landscape and opportunities for us, and our visitors, to kick back on the porch and enjoy some serenity away from our big city life in Atlanta. Of course, it puts us that much closer to our friends and family in Florida when we stay.

The "WHO" of the Tiny House

We plan to build it ourselves, with the help of Jodi's Dad, Frank Laumer, a local land developer and Florida historian., and mother, Dale Anne Laumer, owner of Ivy Cottage Antiques and Wine. And, let us not forget our trusty project manager and site supervisor, Luke and Stella.
